In collaboration with its area The Vine, the WBWE is happy to announce the call-for-papers for the 2nd International Scientific Poster Competition

Universities and research centers have a prominent role within this area of the World Bulk Wine Exhibition, that focuses on new wine and vine business developments.

The 7th World Bulk Wine Exhibition will be held on the 23rd and 24th of November 2015 at the Amsterdam’s RAI

The Vine is an area within the WBWE, conceived to encourage new businesses that evolve around wine and vine industries, but which are not necessarily wineries. Using every resource, and expanding every possibility, such an initiative shows the great potential that can be developed in the sector.

But in order to do so, we consider it essential to foster Research and Development (R&D). Therefore, the has organized the 2nd International Scientific Poster Competition, bringing attention to all relevant research related to obtaining wine and vine by-products, as well as ways of converting waste.

Any research carried out during 2014 and 2015 by universities, research centers, companies and public or private institutions can be submitted in the contest. The best poster, among all those admitted and exhibited, will be awarded with a prize valued at €3.000, based on its originality and ground-breaking nature.

Last year at the World Bulk Wine Exhibition, the scientific jury decided to award the first prize to the research project: "Seasoning products from wine pomace with interesting preservative and healthful properties", from the Department of Biotechnology and Food Science of the University of Burgos (Spain). This scientific project has led researchers to obtain salt with lower sodium content from wine residues, fit for human consumption.

Such a contest is a great opportunity for researchers to exhibit their latest findings on wine and vine by-products and waste, within the context of an international event that gathered nearly 6.000 visitors from 59 different countries, and 250 producers of 19 nationalities during its last edition.
