The World Bulk Wine Exhibition presents its 2013 conference program

On the coming 25th and 26th of November, the 5th edition of the World Bulk Wine Exhibition (WBWE), the biggest international event for the commercialization of bulk wine will be held at the Amsterdam RAI Elicium.

The largest international bulk wine producers and importers will gather there again during two days of both intensive business transactions and reflection.

After four years of existence, the WBWE conference event is considered a unique place for debate and crucial decision-making about the bulk wine market, which represents between 35% and 40% of the global trade and generates between 2,500 and 3,000 million Euros in exportation. Since its first edition, this cycle of conferences has been sponsored by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV). This year, Federico Castellucci, the OIV General Director, will launch the conferences. 

The WBWE 5th edition will also welcome again some of the most renowned and dynamic professionals of the sector around the topic: “Which wines do consumers prefer? A journey across the favorite varieties and wines of the consumer countries”.

The following conferences and speakers have been scheduled:


2 pm.:Official Launching of the World Bulk Wine Exhibition Conferences by Federico Castellucci, general director of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), who will speak about “The international wine market in 2012, with an emphasis on bulk wine”. At this occasion, the Voice of Wine 3rd Prize will be awarded.

2:45 pm.:“Consumption trends in the United Kingdom” by Natalia Posadas Dickson, expert on Global Wine Trade and Purchaser for Cooperative Food (Manchester, UK).

3:15 pm.:“Changes in the international bulk wine market” by Rafael del Rey, director of the Spanish Wine Market Observatory (OEMV).

4 pm.:“Which wines do Italians prefer?” by Gabriele Micozzi, Professor in Marketing at the LUISS University (Rome).

4:45 pm.:“What profile of wines do consumers look for?” by Italo Pitis, general director of the French Languedoc-Roussillon Cooperative.

5:15 pm.:The wines that the South Korean public prefers”, by Mi Yeun Hong, correspondent in Italy for the gastronomy and lifestyle magazine Cookand.


11 am.:Commented tasting: “Principal grape varieties and the types of wine that consumers want”, by Jean Luc Favarel, Research and Development Director at PERA’s group.

12 pm.:“Urban Cave: A new way of selling and consuming bulk wine”, by José Hidalgo, PhD. Agronomist and Oenologist Engineer. 

12:30 pm.: “Chilean Wines, a success worldwide. Building a new category around bulk and bottled Wine in key markets”.by Christophe Desplas, Director of ProChile in The Netherlands.

1 pm.:Round Table “Wine consumption trends in the big producing countries”, with the participation of Carlo Flamini, director of Il Corriere Vinicolo, Sharon Nagel, editor-in-chief of Journée Vinicole and José Luis Murcia, director of the WBWE Conferences and columnist of El Correo del Vino.


World Bulk Wine Exhibition

During the 2012 edition, the World Bulk Wine Exhibition brought together 130 producing companies from 11 different countries and, for two days only, they had the possibility of presenting their products to more than a thousand purchasers and 4000 visitors who came from more than 40 different countries. In short: an acquisition capacity of nearly 20 million hectoliters. The World Bulk Wine Exhibition is considered an exclusive place to display and discover the best bulk wines in the world just after the grape harvest.
